omg...... I've just noticed that the 'Serenity', and 'Take me There' sets of 3 large jars are now £50!

I know Yankee increased their prices a while back, but this is very nearly a 20% price hike as the full price for sets of 3 jars on QVC was around £42. By the time you add on the £5.95 postage you are paying £56 - that's a lot to pay unless you have smelled all 3 jars beforehand in store, and know you want to buy all three.

For me, that's the end of buying from QVC - where you are trusting a presenters description when deciding if you like all 3 jars in a set - it has to be the cost that determines that if you aren't so keen on one when they arrive - at least you had a good buy, and the 'gifting' won't turn out to be an expensive mistake!!

Loads of Yankee shops up and down the UK and Ireland, small chemists sell the brand always on offer. Yankee never impressed me but so many love them, you are getting ripped off by QVC especially when you add shipping.

you dont have to buy from qvc and tbh its a massive compromise if you do. they always put a dud in the pack of three candles. £6 postage is too much. plus you are usually buying blind. when i did the auto delivery i got a lot of candles that had no scent when burning or i did not like the fragance. a load of ugly jars cluttering up the cupboard

I have bought Yankee Candles in the past from qvc, before I could find them in the dreaded high street and buy what I wanted without any p&p

There are multiple online Yankee specialist retailers that regularly have special deals and offers, and as ever their p&p costs are lower and delivery is quicker than QVC.

i think the serenity collection was around £39 on a special. by law qvc have to sell them at the higher price at some point. they will more than likely come down again

I was looking at the 'take me there set' but I was only interested in one of the fragrances as gift for my daughter. I checked the candles on Amazon & I bought the single candle I wanted - 99 pence p&p, ordered Thursday arrived Friday!

I used to buy YK large jars but the prices went up, the quality went down and now they seem little more than a glass jar with a pretty picture on it. At the end of the day there are many more brands out there and good deals to be found. YK have started cutting corners and it shows.

Just about every garden centre in the UK sells Yankee and the Yankee website is almost always cheaper than QVC. HOF also have great deals as well. QVCUK think people are stupid and always think they offer the best deals which they do not, especially when you add the outrageous postage cost. Shop around and don't listen to the guff you are brainwashed with on Q

tk maxx has some very nice luxury vegetable wax candles that smell lovely for very few pounds

Clintons the card people often have some in, not a huge variety but if it is one you like. Some shopping centres have a shop called Aroma which have a good selection. I only buy to put in wardrobes and the airing cupboard. I can only smell paraffin when they burning plus they don't do my asthma a lot of good.

TBH I think if you want the latest scents or some US specials, then the trios from Q at TSV (or special/feature) price is the best value. Not when Q is on its normal price. If you want a scent of the month or any of the candles on an offer, then other sites are as good.

just ignore the £50 QVC Price tag as usually if it states that then its going to be on a special price of about just under £40 like next weeks tsv for instance that will have a Q Price of £50 (i think) & TSV Price is £38.92 + post but Q's new average jar trio proper QVC Price is £46-£47

The price hike has done me a favour as I needed something to stop me buying so many Yankees! I didn't even buy the latest World Journeys trio which was £5/20% more than previous ones - I used to buy two of each set!! I'm only thinking about getting this week's TSV because they are not going to be widely available. That's the thing with the shops for me - they all seem to have only the same standard range which is a bit boring and even the 25% off Fragrance of the Month doesn't make them cheap enough for me now I've become Ms Frugal/tight. The online sales are ok but, again, it's usually the same old fragrances. So QVC still have the edge on variety and sometimes price (just!).

I agree that there are some other good makes out there though, notably Village Candles.

I was a very late convert to YK, in fact as recently as that plain white electric tart burner, but even I have noticed that the throw has reduced dramatically in the 2 years I have been using it to the point I am using up my stock and may not bother again. I don't use the jars.

However if you consider that postage on heavy jars is the same as a flimsy top from Kimmy there is something wrong somewhere.

The set the OP is talking about was on Feature Price during The Spring Event, that price has now ended and it is on at QVC Price.
