It's quite a routine they're recommending isn't it?

Cleanse
Tone
Exfoliate
Revitalash
Serum
Moisuriser
Eye Serum
Eye cream
Primer
Lash primer
Foundation
Concealer
Eye base
Shadow
Liner
Mascara
Blusher
Highlighter
Brow fix
Finishing powder
Lip liner
Lipstick
Lipgloss
Setting spray

Is that it or have I forgotten something? Half the day is gone already. In another few hours I'll be taking it all off.

Now for the night time routine. :mysmilie_490:

Will anyone actually notice how much effort I've put in?? Somehow I doubt it.

Compared to my routine of
Get up
Scrape hair back
Swipe a simple cleansing wipe o'er me face
Throw on first clothes I lay my hands on
Commence getting 4 kids ready.

AY would 'av a fit! Lol.

I've managed over 50 years without a 'primer' (undercoat). Whats that all about ? - just another moneymaker in the cosmetic industry.

There're even saying now to use a rough flannel to exfoliate - well honeybuns I've never used anything else - AND a rough towel to dry with too, AND cold water to tighten the pores. Next !

Agree with your second para Brissles...me too, but I do think primer helps keep the make up on longer. I have tried it. No spackle=make up vanished into thin air by lunchtime. With Spackle= lasts all day.

Last night I put my Aldi serum on the back of one hand as, weirdly, one hand is really dry. It felt like silk, I was well impressed, and it was still moisturised this morning. I have to say, as far as I can remember, that is the only time I have been aware of some alleged magic potion doing something for my skin!! Agree that the rest is just flannel....hasn't stopped me falling for it in the past though!! Am sitting here listening to Keeley and thinking "yeah yeah" - it's all a con isn't it?! Just clean your skin and moisturise it, this has worked for hundreds of years before all these miracle creams for our "challenged and stressed skin" appeared!!

I'm converted to primer now too, but make-up routines were never this complicated when I was a lass! In the morning it's a proper wash and then it's ...

facial oil
serum
moisturiser
Rapidbrow
eye cream

primer
eye primer
radiance
eye spackle
foundation
setting powder

blusher
eyebrows on
mascara
lippy

I'm good to go! Oh, what, it's lunchtime already...?!

Mine's a bit less I think

am: cleanse, moisturise, primer, incl eye primer as dark lids.

Make up: foundation, shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush, nude lip liner, lipgloss. Eye Liner is only a very recent edition. Sometimes skip shadow altogether.

pm: cleanse, eye serum, moisturiser. The eye seum has only been part of my routine since February.

My Emma Hardie TSV is on the way, will be my very first serum as is the night cream, as I normally use my regular cream twice a day.

Conclusion: I think I am starting to get old. Also we must have such awful weather. I do own a sunscreen, but my skin sees so little daylight ( just journey too and from work) that I consider that must be the only time I produce any vitamin D!!! The weekends have been so bad that have only used sunscreen 3 times so far. No wonder I am on the third summer of the same bottle of ultrasun!!!!

I have only included facial skincare and make up in my list. If we are listing our body stuff there would be shower cream/oi/gel, l'Occitane soap, shampoo, conditioner, deoderant. Perfume only when I can be bothered, likewise body lotion. My mum told me off when she found out I never bother putting body lotion on. Am now starting to worry I will become an old woman with a wrinkly c
Body and a smooth face. I will not match!!!

Liquid soap and handcream about a million times a day. Body shop hand gel for the handbag.

I for one know I have been conned into this by AY over the years. My routine:-

am:
Wash with Elemis Tri Enzyme wash
Tone w LE IBST
Moisturise w Elemis PCMC
Apply Elemis Liquid Layer

make up:-
LG Spackle
Benefit Lemon Aid used as concealer all over my eye - I've learnt I don't need two different ones
LG BnB
Clinique Lash Power mascara
LG blusher
Smashbox lipgloss

pm:
same again but I use Elemis Melting Cleansing Gel and Origins serum and moisturiser instead.

Refuse to buy into the Revitalish thing - this would be one layer too many!

elemis is the worst offender for overselling skincare the range is vast and of course you need all of it...

No actually, its Keeley not Elemis. Told this story before, customer comes into local Elemis counter Debenhams with a list of products recommended by Keeley. The girls at the counter told her no, you really just need this, this and this. Customer replied okay, I'll go back and ask Keeley about what you have suggested.

I have used a primer for years, well since the 90s. Helps your foundation stay true longer.

Most days I don't even wear makeup.

So its

Sensitive wash and clarisonic
or Eve Lom Morning Cleanser

No toner

Talkia eyelash conditioner
Eye product
serum Boots Time Delay at the moment which cost £6.63 on half price.
moisturizer

Neck
Argan oil
Boots Time Delay neck stuff, can't get my usual Marks and Spencer.

If makeup worn

Primer
Bobbi Brown eye brightener(hell I have very very very dark circles)
concealer
eyeshadow primer
foundation
eyebrow product(they are blond)
eyeshadow
loose powder
blush
lipstick

That takes all of half an hour at most, including me having a wander about for glass of water and to see what the cats are whaling at.

Obviously you need to slot in your factor 50 sun protection into that routine. Also, I've heard they're about to bring out specialist treatment for the ear area as the skin is very different there to the neck or eye or lip area and also ('although we love our earings')has been abused by all jewellery we wear in that area. That will just be a daily serum/cream and a weekly ear mask so shouldn't add too much to your routine.

I have severely cut my routine down in the last year or so (with no adverse affects so far).

AM: Cleanse with clarisonic and whatever I have (at the mo it is the No.7 Hot Cloth Cleanser - it's a bit meh but I will use it up)
Tinted moisturiser (I mix my own as I am as pale as the walking dead - using a large blob of oil of olay or MAC Strobe cream mixed with a small blob of the No. 7 tinted)
Primer if a feel a bit uneven (mostly don't bother)
either BnB in porcelain or a MAC powder or MAC face and body (again mixed to make it paler) or Face Atelier (all depends on if I'm going out, if I am I use a liquid)
eye shadow or eye liner
blush
Mascara
Brows (they are vanishing)

PM: cleansing balm (currently clinique)
serum
eye cream
moisturiser
revitabrow

All my friends assume I'm high maintenance but actually I'm not.

Cleanse, tone, moisturise. I use PCMC so I don't use a separate eye or neck cream. Despite what ****** Keeley says.

Then it's mascara, eyeliner, mineral makeup, blusher and sometimes a swish of eyeshadow and ready to go. I leave 10-15 minutes between sticking on the moisturiser and starting my makeup but I can do my makeup in 10 minutes maximum.

cleanse usually l'occitane shea butter facial soap but loving the l'occitane red rice cleanser. smells lovely and no spots. alpha-h rejuvinating cream the size of a petit pois.and thats it. skin in amazing condition. the best ever and i am not using too much products that are expensive and have oodles of chemicals.

bought that eyeko mascara what a load of.....very very oversold. bought the fat the only thing fat about it was the price and the extorionate p&p.

I actually really enjoy my morning routine...I wave my two off, then have my shower, etc...then I wash my hair separately, because I can't stand water running over my head and face so can't do it in the shower! I assemble my morning meds and make a mug of coffee, put on a CD maybe, wash & dry hair, then take meds and drink coffee, then do the make-up - it actually doesn't take me that long, having short hair it's washed & dried in 10 minutes, make-up takes max of another ten, and it's what I call my little oasis of "me time" to start the day..bliss..!

Well, I've had to start being really careful because I seem to have developed sensitive skin with rosacea. I didn't exactly have a complicated routine anyway, but have had to change the products I use.

AM:
Wipe over face with Simple Toner
Eye cream (am using one from Sainsbury's I got called Tri-Peptox, only £3.99 and it's really lovely)
Simple Night Cream (I know, but...I didn't like the Day Cream and this is very comforting on my skin and has reduced the redness and spots I've got).
Concealer
BB Cream
Face powder - either Balance and Brighten or BE Foundation
Eyeshadow/Liner/Mascara
Blusher
Lippy.

PM:
Simple Eye Make Up Remover
Simple Face wash
Simple Night Cream
If face is extra dry I might put a drop of Argan oil underneath night cream

Face hasn't dropped off from not using QVC creams/potions (I was expecting the ground to cave in and the world to end by me buying skincare from the literal actual high street) and at the moment, spots and redness seem very much more under control than they were - not right by a long shot but much better.

Right then ladies. I have tried incessantly to find out what EXACTLY the powder is that Bare Minerals and all these other powdery foundations are made of, without luck.

Minerals from the earth can be anything - zinc, copper, iron ore, even gravel, etc etc etc which even a 3 year old will tell you aint gonna be good for the face.

Sooooooo, are any of you a chemist, scientist, civil engineer ? who can put me out of my misery.

(my own foundation incidentally is Elizabeth Arden's Flawless Finish, its a mousse, feels like nothing and lasts for months)

Agree with your second para Brissles...me too, but I do think primer helps keep the make up on longer. I have tried it. No spackle=make up vanished into thin air by lunchtime. With Spackle= lasts all day.
Agree absolutely about makeup primer. It makes a real difference to how my makeup looks. Indeed, yesterday my hairdresser commented on my 'flawless' skin. Since she is my hairdresser, and sees my roots, I felt quite happy in telling her that it was all down to primer (Smashbox BB Cream at the moment) and a really good concealer! But it still made me feel good!
