She always has very nice nails.

Sorry, that's all I can think of.

There is another thread for Alison hate or dislike, so all the negativity can go there. What I have learnt form her is layering, serums under moiturisers, an introduction to varried products and she made me aware of Clientele, which my mother loves. I like the way she descibes products, in detail and depth and I am able to decide better from the selection qvc sell. She really listens when people call and doesn't cut them off so quickly as some of the other presenters do. And I like her honesty, she says what she thinks, which I find refreshing.

As long as people don't say anything offensive then why shouldn't they state their opinion.

If you don't like another presenter you can miss for example a jewellery show and know there will be another along soon presented by someone else, however if you want to watch beauty shows AY is harder to avoid.

I thought AY looked very nice in her black dress for the Ojon TSV launch but if she doesn't like cats then she has definitely gone down in my estimations.

I agree that people should be able to post within reason what they like but as Lloyd said this is an appreciation of Alison thread. There is another thread about Alison that is for people who wish to say other than polite things about her. This thread started off singing her praises and then quickly turned into something else till it got back on track.

I've noticed she's been wearing a lot of Star by Julien MacDonald (Debenhams) of late - very pretty. She had a skirt on the other day from his range, a black dress another day, and I remember seeing her in something else. If she's buying clothes from there you could have a look and see if there are any black shoes round about that might fit the bill!

She said Simon chose one of her outfits the other evening.

Who's Simon then? She has on a STAR skirt today - black with white frills. I do think she's changed her wardrobe direction and with her hair the way it is, she looks really nice. Her hair looked lovely the night of the Philip Kingsley show,

You are right, and I apologise, though I can't say I hate her, because I don't actually hate anyone. The question about what you have learned from her was genuine interest though and you've answered it. Because I've always been interested in makeup and read everything I can get my hands on, I personally havn't learned anything I didn't already know.
I do wish she wouldn't make sweeping and untrue statements about products and she has a voice that would crack glass but, on a positive note, she seems to have dropped her dowdy image and is looking much better these days.

Simon's her hubby I think.

I like her black oufit with the cream cuffs and inset at the neck. She looks very chic in that ensemble.

I think Alison is fab. Like many others, I have learnt a lot from her over the years. I don't spend as much on beauty products on QVC as I used to , but that is because Alison has given me the training to choose for myself.

There is an excellent moderator on here by the name of Sazza, and she will decide what is allowed and disallowed on threads, and she will always step in if things get out of hand or something offensive is said. Just as people popped onto the thread against Alison Young, so too will people pop on here to state their opinion, and, as it's a forum and not a fanclub, that is how it should be. As to Mrs James not posting her pithy comments, I think you will find that she is one of the most popular members of the shopping telly community, and if she stopped posting this would be a much duller place. If you don't like people having opinions, don't join a forum, and don't tell people what they can and cannot post on an open thread.

I had kinda thought maybe Mrs James would like Ali Young better if we sent her some cake and asked her to carry it about? Isn't it Mrs J that has a thing for Battenburg?

Well said!

I don't think it's a negative site to be on - I really don't. There are some lovely people on here who have a wonderful sense of humour - it's often very tongue in cheek with no real malice intended.

I know some threads have gone off on a tangent but it's usually because some of the topics happen to be things people feel quite passionately about and everyone is entitled to their opinion - as with this thread. I have to be in the mood for Alison, she can be really irritating and a bit screechy, other days she's fine and can be quite funny but just like this forum, no-one makes us watch/read/listen. I'm sure people say the same about me - "yep, some days she's irritating and screechy - other days she's hilarious"...... :bandit: That's just life innit? Only there's not a forum about me for people to point it out on, I guess that's the difference........

Well said Aragorn. I have learnt plenty of stuff off Ali but I have to say sometimes I too have felt she has gone into overdrive on the sale pitch. I have heard be just plain rude about some of the poor models. They must have wanted the ground to swallow them up as she did her spiel about models and cosmetic surgery!

Her husband!

I don't mind Alison if I'm honest, yes she is like a school mistress at times and seems quite dour but sometimes, with certain guests who take the pish with her you see her funny side too.

What she is absolutely fabulous at,and probably the best out of all the presenters,is holding your attention, and for a shopping channel that is gold!

She does go on though, waxing lyrical, but I find that funny too.......think I've been known to do it meself at times!!:wink2:

Can the church say,Amen!!:clapping:

I like Ali's sense of humour. I've learned about oils and serums from her and my skin thanks her for that! If its not either her or Julia presenting the beauty shows I tend not to watch nowadays.

I like Alison because:

1. She has quite a dry sense of humour & can be very witty sometimes!
2. She's majorly into horses!
3......there is no 3.......! lol

The world and indeed this forum, would be a pretty boring place, if everyone had the same opinion. What some folks need to understand, is that people and indeed FM come from very different backgrounds, and have vastly different life experiences, which shapes their opinions.:wait2::28: So agree to disagree, and move on. FFS!!!

I used to think Alison was OK, I thought she was different from all those showbiz wannabees, but she’s not. Hence why I don’t think she's OK anymore.:tongue2:

Alison certainly is very knowledgeable, as she should be with her background. And she doesn't seem to favour one range over another. As long as you don't forget she's a very pushy sales person and ignore some of the celebrity brands, like Lulu, I think you can pick up some useful info from her sometimes.

I have learned a lot from Ali Young...
mainly, that you can muck out horses and still have nice nails.
That as a beauty expert, absolutely every single product sold by QVC gives you the gift of eternal youth and every high street brand turns you into a wrinkled old hag.
Her husband bleaches his hair.
She hates the sun.
She is not the boss at home.

And this is only my opinion... but I thnk she has a sinus problem!

Yay for the first one & ROFL at the second!
