Just a heads up for buyers to be aware about filing/rollering your feet. **most hard skin on feet is there for a reason** To protect your feet from certain pressure points in accordance with the way you walk.

Removing the dry skin 'until the healthy pink shows' is fine, BUT be prepared to walk (if you can walk at all) with great sensitivity, even pain for a week afterwards.

I learned this, the HARD way LOL OUCHHH

Sure thing, letting feet go dry to the 'barren grand canyon dry surface cracked & scaly look' isn't good, but daily intensive care moisture lotions are great to prevent this. Put your £ into a great foot moisture treatment, use every day, rather than panicking and removing hard skin, that has built up, in one swoop.

Final footnote (haha) If this item is returned, lets say, 500 units get returned... I dont think 500 units will get burned and recycled.. they will be cleaned up, repackaged, and resold. ewww.

Great advice! I wouldn't let one of these contraptions near my trotters! I use moisturise daily and have never had any hard, dry skin.
Maybe it's a genetic thing but I don't understand why people get hard cracked skin. Don't they look after their feet? It doesn't seem right to peel lumps of skin off feet ~ surely basic foot care ie washing thoroughly and applying moisturisers keeps trotters soft and nice looking. Unless you're a marathon runner, why would hard skin build up?

Managed to watch about 20 seconds of a clip showing Frankie filing her crusty feet with Catherine in the background telling all and sundry about her friend that files her feet in her company whilst watching EastEnders. If a friend is prepared to do that infront of you, me thinks, time to get a new one!! Friend that is! Bluurrgghh! Was going to have pasta for lunch, think I'll leave off the parmesan now!!

Not everyone is blessed with perfection of the pedes, many conditions can have adverse effects. Diabetes, excess weight, dietary deficiencies can be reasons but there are squillions and have nothing to do with being careless or slovenly. I believe it can be very painful to have cracked heels and just consider myself lucky to have dodged any tendencies though still have a microplane just in case.

Being preachy, anyone who is thinking their tootsies look a bit sad should get themselves to a proper chiropodist even just once and then do their own maintenance.

I don't have large big toes so my balance is on the outer edge of my sole and I keep hardskin at bay with a file now and then and Flexitol cream regularly, which I think is the best on the marker. The fashion for ballet pumps with no cushioning sole is probably responsible for a lot of hard skin and the Jesus sandal with hard stitching caused my ex to have cracked heels which he has never recovered from properly.

As someone who has suffered with hard, dry skin (hooves!) since I started walking (it runs in my family), I will be looking forward to receiving mine. No amount of creams/lotions/gels can rid my feet of the hard and extremely painful skin on my feet and my Microplane will be pried from my cold, dead hands! I've always looked after them as leaving them go for even a week without tlc causes me pain. My grandmother was the same, as is my sister. We used to have to rely on home remedies from good old Vaseline to olive oil soaks and although we can avoid the painful cracks with moisture, we can't avoid the build up. A quick rub over with our Microplane, finished with a sandpaper file once a week (along with daily moisturising) does the trick for us, though we're always looking for the "next best thing" which we're hoping this will be.

My build up is so bad that I had to have my plaster replaced fortnightly when I broke my leg. The consultant asked to see my other foot and remarked that he'd never seen such a quick turnover and that I was doing a good job keeping it down with my method!

Not everyone is blessed with good feet and most people who suffer with extreme build up will try anything out of necessity. It's not always a case of "letting go" or spending £s on creams. I think anyone who's bought the popular Microplane from QVC will probably also look forward to making the most of the MBG with this - it might be a HG for us, like the MP is.

I have diabetes and have been "forbidden" by the diabetic nurse specialist from using this sort of foot grater. I use a foot file which is like a fine emery board, plus Flexitol which is very good as you say. It's actually available on NHS prescriptions for diabetics so it's medically recognised as being effective.

I cant answer your question why some people get more build up than others but I wash and dry my feet every day and moisturise them morning and night, got to a chirapodist on a regular basis and I still get dry build up on my heels so basic foot care is no where near enpugh for some people.

I use a file like an emery board to try and keep my feet halfway decent but it is one long battle and I can fully understand why people would buy soething like this. If you are unfortunate enough to suffer from dry cracked build up on your feet not only does it look unattractive but it can hurt

i use a footfile every few weeks in the summer as being too zealous with filling can make the skin build up even faster. margaret dabbs said feet should be exfoliated twice a month..
i use l'occitane foot cream every day and when i shower i always soap my feet with a flannel as this is a basic form of skin removal.
sandals like birkis and flipflops can cause a lot of hard skin.

My mother has had trouble with hard, cracked skin on her feet for as long as I can remember. It's not due to neglect, since she's very fastidious with personal hygiene. However, she does wear sandals a lot (i.e. almost every day), so maybe that might be why. Her arthritis also makes it hard for her to reach her feet sometimes, so I have to help her with that. I'll pass this information on to her.
I have a little bit of hard skin on my feet, but nothing serious. A quick scrub with a pumice stone usually does the trick for me.

Well I look after my feet but I have a funny crease on the main part of each foot, so hard skin builds up there, I have really sensitive feet too so a pumice is not an option, that's why I like yesterday's TSV.

Ok I've got weird feet!

My OH has hard skin on one of his heels caused by driving he reckons. We got him a Ped Egg to get rid of it as it did look rather unsightly. However, his foot was so sore when he drove afterwards that he's now let the hard skin grow back again. Can't say his driving has improved but hey, at least he doesn't complain of a sore foot anymore!!

I received the Emjoi Micro Pedi this morning. It is by far the best thing I have ever used for hard skin on my feet and I have tried lots of products. It is effortless and the results are unbelievable. Possibly one of my best QVC purchases and I really do recommend it.

I have the micro plane use it once a week,it doesnt get rid of all the hard skin but it does a pretty good job,I try to remember foot cream two or three nights a week.I like to wear birkies,my chiropodist said they contribute to making skin much harder on my heels.

I have the microplane and only use once a month. My podiatrist said whatever I am doing its good. Now what I get is dry skin and have been told I really should moisturiser everyday. Now as I live in jeans I wear cotton socks usually(as I have small feet size 3, its childrens socks) and sensible shoes. I use L'Occitane foot cream usually, this time its Space NK Life one instead its even richer!!!!
The Emjoi to me just looked like battery powered sandpaper which you have to keep repurchasing rollers!!! My microplane is still going over two years later and never gone blunt either.

Pedikur is my method of choice, not keen on the smell of the moisturiser which come with it but does the job nonetheless.
