:heart::heart: indeed Sue.

Wow, that was a treat! I don't normally watch R&C but saw they have Pink Valentines hour on.......just had to tune in!

Oh bummer its just been sold, was hoping to see it again.........wasn't you was it???

I've just started watching today for the same reason Sacha. I'm actually surprised at how watchable Jerrilee is now ...and no sadly it wasn't me hon. :envy:

Sorry to be the messenger of doom but that diamond isn't simply heated. That is SO misleading I can't tell you. It has been treated to within an inch of it's life for colour. In other words this is either irradiated, HPHT or some other form of treatment to give it that colour. That means that the selling price is way too high.

If that was a natural pink diamond, given the colour, the price would be phenomenal. Clearly the colour isn't natural.

If anybody says to you a diamond is just simply heated ........... run like the wind! You only use the term for coloured stones NOT diamonds.

I've never really watched this channel but as gems has gone right off the boil IMO and TJC seems to be having more and more under £100 items with just the odd Iliana show stopper i have found myself watching rocks more and more and i must be honest i really like Jerrilee and find her very easy to watch and i even like the odd story she tells.
I have not took the plunge and bought anything yet but i am enjoying watching :cheeky:

Well tbf Meesh no mention was made or even hinted that it was natural and Jerilee did chuck in the obligatory comparison with a natural pinky owned by J-Lo and how phenomenally expensive natural coloured diamonds are. Unless people are in that wealth bracket or win the Euromillions then treated coloured diamonds are the reality and I'm okay with that, as long as they are not coated. However, I wouldn't have paid 13k for this ring even though I loved it.

I'm also very bored with all the samey stuff on TJC and don't watch nearly as much now. The best presenters are gone and I have no idea who is on now  and it appears that little Jim Brooman may have gone as well. :wonder: I've enjoyed watching Rocks today and can't wait to see John's shows now. I may even be tempted...

I'm okay with coloured diamonds as well. My problem with this is the fact that there was reference to JLO's natural pink is, by itself misleading. The point though Sue is that you KNOW about diamonds. You KNOW that this couldn't possibly be a natural untreated diamond. How many people have that level of understanding? You'd be surprised how many would think that it had been naturally coloured by heat in the ground, just as the Argyle pinks have. This is blatent mis-selling. Can you imagine if you forked out thousands for this ring and then found that you'd bought a treated diamond?

Typically HPHT/irradiated diamonds sell for 40% less than their natural counterparts. If you compare that to how much a white diamond of 2ct would be you can see how much more the poor person has paid.

Do you remember when Gems were selling their coloured diamonds with Don about 5 years ago - irradiated, not coated? A 1.5ct round red/pink sold for £2,999. I know because I've kept a spreadsheet (that's the anorak in me)!

I think now Johns back at rocks it will definitely be the most easy to watch channel, no shouty overpowering presenters.
I wish i had seen the pink diamond it looks amazing just in the photo.

Oooh I'd liked to have seen that!

What surprised me was that Jerilee kept saying that they really wanted £35k for the ring and yet dropped to £20k.
As Sue said, there was absolutely no pretence that it was natural, in fact she mentioned that it had been slightly pink and then 'enhanced' to get this level of saturation. First one in two and half years apparently. But it and the huge accents gave off plenty of fire and the design was quite unusual.

Hi Sacha!

There is a company that specialises in this type of diamond and some of the colours they produce are magnificent. Their blues could be confused for naturals they are so good (rather than the darker blues you normally see).

I'm pretty sure that this diamond never started off as pink though - I believe that's absolute poetic licence!

Do you remember my red/pink (surrounded by white diamonds) - in the picture in the link you posted, it's the same colour and I do love my one so can see the attraction! Most definitely!

If you can manage to find how to get old links from GemsTV to show, here are the item numbers of the red/pinks they had (all over 1ct)
UPF9238
UPF9238
URO7949
URO7949
UGI4355
UGI4355

I don't think it is technically possible to do this, since the old Gems TV item numbers were not migrated to the new system (and old Gems TV stock items were given new numbers, in a different format).

If anyone knows different, please spill the beans!

I saw a few of these pink diamonds today they were very expensive, i remember when TJC did them in Rhapsody rings 0.50ct (in the pink diamond) for £799-£999 and i remember a BEAUTIFUL Iliana pear cut pink diamond pendant (i think 0.50-0.60cts) in 18k white gold for around £799 gosh i wish i had bought that pendant so much, i remember watching it on air but at the time didn't have the money................i wish i wish i wish lol

GC - I bought that pendant but returned it. Unfortunately, although on air it looked nice and pink it had quite an overwhelming brown tone to it. So cross that one off your wish list because I don't think you would have been happy either. I think I have photos of it somewhere if you're interested.

Thats good to know lol
I'd love to see some photos please, do you have many treated pink diamonds?
I'd love to see you pink diamond collection x

GC - I've got both treated and natural pink diamonds but have never photographed them all together. I may do so at Easter and then I'll PM you with them!

Here's the pendant with an irradiated pink I have - I was comparing the colours!

Thank you GC - was that the Iliana pendant you were thinking about?

BTW I'm having a natural yellow, orange and pink diamond bracelet made in the next few weeks - something that's been in the pipework for ages. I'm really excited about it!

Yes that was the pendant i was thinking about.
Wow the bracelet sounds amazing, will it be graduated in shades?
May i just ask about pink diamonds, i would like an treated pink diamond but after reading this thread i'm a little confused! (doesn't take a lot i know) i don't want coated but are there different treatments or are they just irradiated to make them pink?
Where is a good place to look?
