Isn't A Request Just That??

Yes Carol confirmed today that you can request an item only once! Makes sense but if you don't get it you have to wait for another day to request again!

Can they auction an item more than once a day now then?? Remember many a time when a requestor was told that the item they wanted couldn't be shown as it had already been on that day!

Hehe... hopefully it wasn't me then, cause I didn't whinge, just said "oh rats" and logged off!

Hi Nixhaz and welcome. It won't have been you unless you bid against yourself - lol. Glad to hear that you got the ring you wanted in any event. You don't want to mind us we only <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D15%252F15%255F3%255F32%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_3_32.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D15%252F15_3_32%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a> we don't bite!

Hi! Would have no idea how to bid against myself! Thanks for the welcome. Love Rocks... nice to see you all here :)

Hi! As the new presenter concerned thought I should clarify, just to set the record straight, the requested item was accidentally purchased. I asked the buyer who confirmed they had wanted the previous auction which had closed but when they hit the buy button it landed on the new auction .. Katherine, the star that she is, sorted it out for the accidental purchaser! The reason we then asked a number of times for the original requestee was to give them a chance on a similar item. Hope that helps to clear things up.

oooo look at you AlanM checking out Shoppingtelly.com!

Always good to be kept in the loop! (no pun intended)

Hi Alan,
I was watching when that happened, it was for the diamond ring wasn't it. I didn't comment earlier as i thought the OP was referring to another auction as they didn't mention that the person that bought it had done so by mistake. To be honest i thought you were very kind, you were trying to help out the person that requested it as they wanted it as an engagement ring. You're doing a great job Alan!

Hi amf, yes it was the diamond ring (and a beauty at that!) thanks for the kind words too I'm enjoying it so much!

Yes PR they can now auction the item again as long as its with a different presenter so basically an item can be auctioned twice in one day.

I was watching yesterday, when something happened which really upset me. Now I know the presenter is new, but what was said, and implied, was IMHO not right.
Someone requested an item, which was put up for auction, and someone else bought it. Fair enough?? All's fair in love and auctions?? Well, quite a big deal was made about this ... requester not having time to come in and bid, ...we'll look and see if we have anything similar ... and several other times during this show, the presenter asked if that requester was still watching because they had found other items which they could show them, and why this was being done. Now, that's very nice that they were trying to help this person find what they were looking for - but I felt that it was particularly harsh on the person who had bought the original item, having their nose rubbed in it continually (ok their name wasn't mentioned, but really that's beside the point).
I thought that ALL auctions were open to anyone, not just the person who requested the item. There is definitely a feeling that you should not buy an item that someone else has requested - and, unless the 'rules' have been changed, I think this is totally wrong.
There, I've had my blast - sorry if I've waffled on, but this hit a sore point!!

:12: :28:

To be fair to Alan, the new presenter, there was one occasion (I don't know if it WAS this one that you saw, dingbat) when the successful bidder actually thought she was bidding on the previous item and went into help to have the item removed from her basket. If memory serves me right it was a substantial diamond solitaire . . . but that may not have been the incident you saw.

Don't think it was you nix - I remember your tanzanite request: glad you got it today, congratulations.

That'll teach me to post before reading the whole thread lol. Still, good to know that my memory hadn't let me down!
