I'm revising my opinion now about moderators - fine in theory but this aft's events smacked of jobsworths...fgs moving a comment for no good reason...:12: Emma was quite happy with it!

Those arrows mean anyone can mess about moving posts for the fun of it - and obviously is, so can they be removed please.

Honestly, these changes are causing more trouble than the original system...

Is this the only selling site with live chat? For any sort of product? How do others manage?

Two rooms still do not seem to be working - more people seem to be logging off than on. How is it that Barry can talk about weather, football club owners etc but anybody else not talking about jewellery get sent to chit chat where they become fed up with being "poofed" and so log off?!! Definitely think only one chat room needed!

Sorry to jump in again ............ can I just say that in my original posts I wasn't actually advocating getting rid of chat - although I understand why people perceived it as such. I was merely making alternative suggestions. As I don't participate in chat, having it there or not makes absolutely no difference to me so I have no axe to grind either way.

Having said that, I've just now caught up with this thread and if you look, all the complaints are still about chat - nobody's complaining about the jewellery. Now while I understand even negative publicity is publicity, surely having so many dissatisfied customers for the sake of chat is counter-productive?

I don't have an answer - don't pretend to - but there's got to be some way forward that keeps customers happy, business coming in and no friction? Gawd knows what it is but it must be there ..... somewhere ..........

Barry is talking about cats and squirrels atm...this isn't about jewellery...:33:

To an extent i agree, but think about the presenters for a minute, they are sat in a studio for 6 hours solid talking about the jewellery they are selling.
We as customers can choose to log off if we get bored of seeing or hearing whats going on. The presenters don't...give em a break if they add a few minutes light hearted banter eh? :1:

I believe that the point being made here is that if any "customers" had started to talk about cats and squirrels the post would have been poofed into chitchat.

For the presenters to have to just talk jewellery, which they have to repeat everytime they are there must be mind numbing, I'm sure they must enjoy new pieces more than us. Having the topic if conversation change now and then must be a luxury for them.

Hello everyone,

Just to let you know that we have removed the arrows so that chats can no longer be moved across from Rocks Chat.

To follow up on the posts above, interacting with the presenter in Rocks Chat is absolutely fine. This is all part of the auction and the reason for the chat being there in the first place.

It is only conversations that are nothing to do with the auction or jewellery and are not meant for the attention of the presenter that we are asking to be conducted in Chit Chat.

As mentioned before, we are looking in to a way where regulars can easily see and participate in both chats.

Kind regards

John

Hello everyone,

This must work both ways though, the whole point above was that the presenters do not always talk about the jewellery, which is fine by me as this interaction can be quite amusing and entertaining, but don't make one rule for presenters and one for customers.

I am reading John's post differently. I take it as if the presenter is say talking about weather than we can join them in the chat, but say I wanted to talk about a tv soap than I go to chit chat.

It would be a boring shift for the presenters if jewellery was the only talk they had to abide by. Don't get me wrong I love any bling but even I would struggle to talk about gemstones for 6 hours.

That's exactly how I read it too BH.

I know what you meant nanpam...:1:

Re the magazine pulling the article...I don't know about anyone else here, but I'm willing to e-mail the Editor of that mag - through Rocks if necessary - to apologise for the unfortunate topic of conversation, point out that Rocks is such a friendly site that people feel they can talk about anything, even if that isn't always wise, that I'm writing off my own bat out of loyalty to Rocks, and ask them on behalf of Rocks' customers, to please reconsider pubishing the article...

Would anyone else be willing to do that - assuming of course that Rocks would let us?

Sorry gd, but I just had a read and it doesn't look cliquey to me...maybe we have different definitions? What do you see as cliquey? Rocks Chat is about the jewellery atm anyway, and on ChitChat there's still last night's chat, so nothing much happened in there today...

It's ony cliquey if people let it get so - it's up to everyone to join in...:1:

Hi Jacky,

I very much doubt they'd be interested in anything us common lot have to say. Since we chat about verrucas we may put our <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D12%252F12%255F6%255F11%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_6_11.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D12%252F12_6_11%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a> in it.
