"Who is not happy with the "old" chit/chat room Idea

Hi all
WIGGI never realy worked ? I could never get on with it and was eventualy removed.
I have seen a lot of silly comments on chat . some people just abuse it?
I do not think there is a perfect solution, and agree that new shopper could miss the friendly welcomes.
lets see if it works.

I can see your point, but i don't think that by doing this steve doesn't value his customers, clearly its customers who have been emailing him and complaining as he said in his reply on here. If Steve and the rocks tv team are recieveing complaints then surely they have to do something to remedy that, and they clearly thought that having two chat rooms was the solution. Perhaps if you gave it a bit longer you'd get used to it, after all, sometimes these things just take a bit of patience. I am sure if you gave it a reasonable ammount of time, if it wasn't working then rocks tv would look at things again, but surely you need to give it a fair go.

This is how it started my friend with 2 rooms which was scrapped cos it didnt work.Steve said in the begining about revolutionising the world off gems and involving us the customers. He also said chat was a good way off communicating between us the customers and all at rocks. He has taken that away now.

All we are saying is,if Steve values his customers, why were we not all asked on the idea simple as that. And why activate it on the Easter Weekend when all are on holiday.

Now as for requests, thats what live help was for,Kathereine and the others have been on about this for a long time yet people still ignore it.That problem should be addressed on its own ie set out in writing when signing up for instance.

I quite like the idea of having one room for chat and interaction and isolating the other chatroom for requests only.

People have been asked for months to email requests but they persist in putting requests in chat as it seems easier and more immediate. I also have heard that, because of browser problems, some people have to log out or change browser to email. If they only had to briefly switch rooms, this would make things easier all round.

This way we could all chat with each other and the presenter and the Rocks staff would not miss the requests hidden in the busy chat.

I can't believe that Rocks have done this to annoy their loyal customers, but rather to try to iron out some complaints about problems in the Chat. Steve has replied on here and has said they will listen to everyone's opinions, great interaction as usual.
I feel that Chat had generally changed and very rarely turn it on now. On the odd occasion I have ventured back in, I've been virtually completely ignored, I assumed because no-one recognised my name. So I didn't take it personally, but it didn't make me feel welcome either and I quickly left again.

Absolutely Agent J, random requests in chat should have simply been ignored, a tough business decision I know but by constantly responding to them (often quicker than requests made in the proper manner) it simply made matters worse. Also by accepting them from chat, newbies were given the impression that this is how it works. I don't think I'm alone in having been driven quietly nuts by this habit. Same people randomly requesting the same item over and over and complaining they were being ignored despite repeatedly being told how to request properly. It's like having a child constantly "why"ing at you.

Eeh - I do love a good moan me! <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxpt484YYGB%2526i%253D10%252F10%255F5%255F137%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_5_137.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D10%252F10_5_137%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif"></a>

I don't buy from Rocks any more but I pop in every now and again for a look. IMVHO if you have a chat facility then you have to expect that you can't regulate what will be discussed. It's simply not feasible to discuss jewellery all day/every day. So, you either have a chat facility that allows chat on any topic and simply police the abusers or don't have one at all. One of the issues that I know was a hot topic when Rocks first started was that they were not fast enough at pulling the plug on those who try to spoil the chat at the expense of others - this is perhaps where their efforts should focus.

In terms of having 2 chat rooms? If you have trouble policing one chat room - why add another?

One of the most frequent annoyancies in chat was people constantly asking for requests over and over. It might be far easier to have a "request" button that you simply press, put in your item number and bingo - into the ether it goes. Perhaps an automated reply could be generated so the person knows it's been received. There's no need for anything else. There should be no guarantees that requests will be shown. Maybe if there is only one item left then an automated response directing that person to the CR website would also be appropriate. Requests in chat could then be ignored completely or directed to the appropriate route.

Sometimes, it's far easier to KISS (keep it simple stupid)!!!!

you can still interact with the presenters on jewellery related chat though can't you? on the normal chat room, just not on random chat, is that how its now working? if that is the case i don't think rocks tv see you as second class at all, i am sure they are just trying to keep all customers happy, old and new. :)

Yes you can interact with the presenters - but only about the jewellery. This is making for very flat viewing IMAO and much of the buzz of Rocks arose from the great atmosphere generated between presenters and chatters.

Yes, you could say it sometimes went too far - but that is what the moderators and delete facility are there for.

If I want to watch presenters talking to themselves or working themselves into a frenzy - I'll watch Gems or QVC, theydo it just as well with a greater variety of presenters and on a large hi def screen!!

I'm afraid it just doesn't engage my attention so I'm in no danger of buying as I haven't a clue what has been sold today.

you are so right Meeshoo - and what a brilliant idea about requests. I hope you have emailed that to Steve.

it seems that rocks tv cannot keep everyone happy, if the put the chat back to how it was, clearly the people who complained will be unhappy, and it does put off new/non regular buyers too IMHO, if they leave it at 2 rooms, regulars are complaining and unhappy. Perhaps no chat is the solution.

Have any of you actually tried to just talk about the jewellery for the whole time you're in chat? Impossible. You've even got people moaning in the second chat room now that every single bit of chat in room 1 isn't about jewellery. FFS. Ludicrous state of affairs. Look how many Rocks staff are having to patrol the chat rooms. It's sooooooo not cost efficient.

Catz - no I haven't emailed Steve. He reads the forum so I'm sure he'll see my suggestion.

lol Thanks for that Argey he he!

surely this is a bit of an over reaction, its just a chat room. I think if you like the jewellery, you buy the jewellery, surely the chat room is just an added bonus if you like it, but as its the jewellery you spend your money on, thats the most important thing to be happy with.

thanks for your opinion

Hi Gemdreamer thanks for your post and opinion...
I'm sorry if you feel I'm over -reacting... but I like yourself have an opinion.. and this is my way of getting my opinion accross..... thanks again for yours.

Crikey - how unhelpful is that Gemdreamer? If something doesn't please some folk, then simply kill it off? We'd soon have minority rule in that case (though some would argue we're already very close, but that's another subject). I so hope you don't apply this rule to the whole of your life - how dull!

Regarding your last post, I think you're missing the point. Many Rocks customers buy into the whole package, jewellery can be purchased anywhere.

WOW,Were do you get off.Everyone has an opinion but because it doesnt agree with urs that you cast it off.

Problem is this,Rocks can have as many chatrooms as it likes, that is not the issue, the issue thats the problem is the interaction with the presenters. That is what set Rocks apart from the rest.

A forum shouldve been done too gauge ideas on how to improve the Rocks experience. This way Steve and all at Rocks know how we feel and also they can bounce ideas on us.

clever move....Barry is there now smoothing things out. ;)

Not sure how long it will stay smooth. I've just popped in for a peep, and he's like a conductor and got both rooms chatting about jewellery - lol I was only joking when I said to watch out for riot police, I don't think that helmet suits Barry though, its a bit like a teddy bear in a stab vest.

As Meeshoo has pointed out,it is impossible to just talk about the jewllery for 12 hours..........yes we are there for the jewellery, but Rocks USP(unique selling point) is the chatbox, hence why many will be logged in for hours, chatting to friends and buying a nice bit of bling when it takes their fancy.

I log on regularly but don't always buy,in fairness there has not been much to tickle my fancy, new stock is needed, especially for those who have been there for a while, they have already got the things they want.I think that this is one of the reasons why chat has been so much less about the jewellery of recent times, that and the fact that many people have got to know each other over time and also have a familiarity with the presenters too.

I have already said I am guilty of cheeky banter, that is just me I am afraid, and if this has caused anyone to write to Steve to complain and has stopped them from buying from him then I unreservedly apologise to both them and to Steve,Sarah and the entire Rocks team.I am not there to cause any offence or to stop people buying:(

Whether this 2 chatroom idea will work I do not know. One thing that concerns me though is who are the arbitors in the original Rockschat?
As I understand it,there is a box u can click to remove unrelated posts,if the chatters wish to do so,these posts then move into the chitchat room.My fear is that those who see themselves as moderators or those who have personal issues with other chatters could start to abuse this facility!

Time will tell on how this moves forward,at the moment whilst I am logged in I am hardly chatting. Some may say 'thank the lord' lol but my attention is straying from the jewellery because of it also.I am not chatting due to various reasons...the jumping of the chitchat box,the lack of interest in the rockschat box,the general ill feeling that is around and the lack of interaction with the presenter.

Having no chatbox at all I think is a terrible move to make and I hope that does not happen as Rocks will lose so much of what makes them who they are in the 1st place.
