There are only two of us and I recycle as much as I can and any other waste goes into a small bag and put in the dustbin. I find kitchen bins smelly and difficult to keep clean and fresh so don't have one.

I have a push top bin ,medium size which has been ok for some years but recently the cat has started using it as a short cut onto the work top usually when nobody's looking,it releases the lid then you get the whiff of rubbish.i dont have a space to move the bin to.

Its a battle between me and the cat and I think the cat is winning.

This bin looks like it might solve it but is way too expensive for me.

Argos have a couple of automatic bins for far less money like this Morphy Richards one: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2489131.htm which doesn't sound too much if you have a specific need or like the novelty of it. Cats are pretty wily creatures; they can probably work out how to open a bin like this when there's the whiff of a tuna tine or chicken bones coming from inside!

LOL just flicked on to Ideal World and they have a Morphy Richards 50litre automatic bin for £44.99!
