I agree. Bid were irreverent and never tried to be a traditional shopping channel, they were also incredibly dishonest.

Ideal World is a grotesque morphing of often quite bizarre sales techniques while also trying to be a 'proper' shopping channel. And sadly I personally believe that at times they are becoming quite or even very dishonest, sometimes when there appears no real reason to be (like the incredulous stock BS for that Bosch Vacuum which on the face of it seems like a real bargain).

Unless perhaps they feel there is a need for the dishonesty and they are in trouble? These stock updates are, in my opinion, becoming unacceptable and I suspect someone will soon contact the ASA if it keeps occurring.

It appears to be a quite clear case of exerting undue pressure. I personally have little doubt that such a complaint would be upheld but that is just my opinion. :mysmilie_59:

oh bid was terrible in terms of honesty but it wasn't boring.

the worst thing you can be on tv is boring.

Bid was a hoot but was clearly a shambles and jeez they were shysters. It was fun though.

Ideal World isn't a hoot. I think it's rather grim, not very likeable really. I wouldn't call them shysters like Bid were but I'd comfortably call them schlocky.

I know a few colleagues who bought some garb from them a few months ago and overall they were happy with their purchases. But, all of them have said they simply cannot watch the channel so they haven't bought anything else as they like to see the clothes being worn.

I presume one of them was talking about Peter Simon when she said there was a man literally foaming at the mouth whilst yelling complete bollo%#* incoherently. Or words to that effect :mysmilie_59:

Nicola george is on tjc right now, though she was a bit before my time in terms of bid fandom.

Peter simon gets too excited and needs to chillax. Scrap the website it's pointless ideal world having it especially the web basket feature.

There seems to be two ways of selling - either you live in a state of utter disarray, squalour, and at imminent risk of dying of terrible diseases picked up from your substandard environment and this BUY this or that product to hold armageddon at bay... or you need to have the product in your already beautiful life to make it perfect because this or that sleb has one that looks similar-ish to what they are flogging. Both ways are utterly ridiculous when you take a good step back rather than getting swept along in the hysteria they try to generate.

Couldn't have put it better myself!

I wonder which presenter it will be who goes just that little bit too far one day and attracts the ASA's attention, thus beginning a closer focus on IW's operation. My money's on Pervy Pete - he doesn't know when to shut up.

I agree it will definitely be him! Although this wouldn't be ASA worthy, I'm still surprised that Gollum hasn't let any expletives slip on air yet, the aggressive way that he speaks, and some of the things he says is just crying out for an "'effing" or a "see ya next Tuesday"! Dunno 'ow 'e duzzit....maybe 'e really is the conshumut proffeshnul he says 'e is!

Hopefully Sally Jacks, she talks utter rubbish all the time, fed up with listening to the crap that comes out of her Foghorn Gob.Jacks reckons she's a trained Fashion Expert,i totally disagree that on that one.

If any of them are "Experts" in whatever field they say they are, is there an actual course for example, "Fashion Expert", Technology Expert? If we all just say we are experts, then that must make us all "Experts".
If they presume expert status by having xx years experience, it still doesn't make them experts. I have professional qualifications, but in no way would I say I am an expert. I wouldn't be so crass, still that's just me, but then again, we are talking about IW.

Ah, the Hamper. I wonder if De Knees will finally get hold of one before it sells out?

They're selling Afibel clothes next week, I think it's part of Damart. Shocking reviews on Trust Pilot :mysmilie_59:

I don't have any experience of their customer service, etc., but Damart were awful for junk mail more than 30 years ago when a relative bought something from them. So they appear not to have changed in all that time...
